What is RSS?
RSS is defined as Really Simple Syndication or Rich Site Summary. RSS files are formed as XML files and are designed to provide content summaries of news, blogs, forums or website content.
RSS is a defined standard with the specific purpose of delivering updates to web-based content. Using this standard, webmasters provide headlines and fresh content in a succinct manner.
Meanwhile, consumers use RSS readers and news aggregators to collect and monitor their favorite feeds in one centralised program or location.
Content viewed in the RSS reader or news aggregator is known as an RSS feed.
Users select the RSS feeds they wish to subscribe to. The feeds are simple headlines and brief descriptions and, if the user is interested, they can click to see additional information.
